Challenge:
This article, titled How the Brain Perceives Beauty, required a captivating layout and cover design that could communicate both the analytical nature of science and the wonder of beauty. The challenge was to weave these seemingly contrasting ideas into one cohesive visual concept, helping readers connect with the article's central theme before turning the first page.
Approach:
My approach was to combine sketched visual elements inspired by classic scientific illustrations with a bright, bold color gradient that represents the concept of beauty. To further reinforce the connection between beauty and science, I added a second conceptual layer to the cover design: an illustration of a beautiful figure with their brain exposed, creating a visual link back to the scientific themes.
